Arena Western Premier League Final

Wow! The Somerset Cheetas have done it again with an apsolutely stunning performance in the Western Premiership final held at Millfield.

The Cheetas finished a fantastic second place to Plymouth A, beating other great teams like Millfield, Cardiff 'A' and Bournmouth.

Cheetas, seeded fourth for the finals, showed their intent by winning the very first event, The Ladies’ Open Individual Medley, going on to achieve eleven further victories and twelve second places throughout the fifty event final, which they even led at the halfway point.

“The team were outstanding”, proclaimed Zoe Baker, Cheetas Head Coach, “almost every swim was a personal best time, there were no last place finishes or disqualifications and without doubt, Cheetas had the best support of the eight teams taking part”.

The CHEETAS performance squad is made up of Street & District and Chard & District Swimming Clubs. We officially begin working to together from August 23rd 2010.

Zoe Baker is the head coach of both the Street and Chard club programmes and operates a “mirror programme” at both facilities. Zoe delivers the same programme and swim sessions at both clubs and provides the same opportunities for everyone. Adam Parfit is assistant coach and leads the age group development squad twice a week.

Our new club has a separate committee (50% Chard and 50% Street) and operates as a combined team at the National Arena League each year (October to December) along with combined training sessions operating at Millfield 50m Pool. Top up hours are available to swimmers using both clubs facilities.

CHEETAS performance swimmers are Regional and National level swimmers and swim under the CHEETAS squad at all these competitions, along with selected Level 1 meets. Swimmers will represent their home club the rest of the time.
